2026: My Year of Divine Glorification. John 17 vs 5

Unshakable Covenant Keeper is our God

Listen to Audio Version:

Written by Tòmíwá Olúyínká

You see, if King David of Israel reigned in our time now, we would shut him up when he calls himself ‘a man after God’s own heart’.

Why should a murderer, an adulterer, be in a covenant relationship with God? Why should he still find grace, mercy, power and leadership when he’s partaking in things that God clearly hates?

These are questions beyond man’s reasoning. It shows the boundless nature of God and the inability of His decisions to be confined to our own understanding.

Let’s look at Jacob, with whom God also had a covenant. He was an usurper and a manipulator. Yet God still fulfilled His promise to him. Why? Because He doesn’t need perfection. What He desires is humility, honour and a yearning heart.

You may ask in reverie: How come the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has such untraceable power despite oppositions? The answer remains mysterious.

In your weakness, in your surrender to flesh, God still sees you. God still fulfils His covenant with you. He doesn’t change, and He keeps his promises. In your imperfections, He still answers your prayers.

But does this mean that because unbelievers occupy positions of power, you who share in God’s covenant should partake in their wickedness? No! Or would you run from God because a Pastor offended you and continued to remain a Pastor? No! Because walking that route would only lead you away from the covering of God’s covenant. He cannot be reduced to your opinion.

Jeremiah 33:17 says, “For this is what the Lord says: ‘David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of Israel.” It goes on to say that unless His covenant with night and day ceases, only then would His promise to David fail. But the power of God surpasses any man’s.

Replace your name with David’s. Do you know what that means?

So why don’t you honour Him, come to Him in humility, and enjoy the promises He has made? Why not focus on His purpose for you? — do what you’re called to do and let God do with your obedience what He pleases.

Revd Dr. Tunji Bamgbose preached a storm about God, the Unshakable Covenant Keeper and you can catch the full sermon here.

Absolutely not, I don’t believe God has forgotten His promise to me. God’s timing is different from ours, and sometimes the waiting season is where our faith grows the most. Even when things don’t look the way we expected, His promises still stand. Nothing will change God’s covenant for me because unshakeable covenant keeper is my God 😃
