Helping Faithful Widows Through the Arrow of Prayer!

Ever heard the statement “a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian”? Chances are, you have. This is true because the manifestation of a Christian’s power can be accurately measured by how much time they spend with God. Jesus said in Luke 18:1 “Men ought always to pray, and not to faint”. This is why it’s not so encouraging that many Christians do not persist in prayer.

Jesus was very intentional in His parable about a widow who was persistent in approaching an unjust judge for justice. Widows go through a lot of hardships because the loss of a life partner can be devastating. Widows are left alone with their children and can be subject to maltreatment as the one who should protect them is late. Despite knowing all that widows go through, the judge in Luke 18 ignored her pleas. The widow did not relent in asking, and she was eventually granted justice.

More merciful than the unjust judge is God, your Father. Whatever your petition may be, don’t stop praying. Luke 18: 7 “And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though He bear long with them?” (KJV). Reverend Dr. Tunji Bamgbose reminded us that better than praying is praying and fasting. Our God sees faithfulness, and He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.

It’s easier to see ourselves as the widow than the unjust judge, but we’re called to both roles. We are reminded to be compassionate and grant requests that we have the capacity to. Reverend said “no one is immune to disaster, we all have just received grace differently”

Be bold in giving justice and offering protection. You are a light and you must shine brightly! Stay fervent in prayer and show mercy to others. As you pray and fast this week, answer the prayers of others, and may God answer yours speedily.

Has this encouraged you to stay persistent in prayer? Tell us in the comments. Also, remember, sharing is caring. Send this to a friend or colleague as their reminder for the week.
