To build is to create, and it’s only logical to believe every builder has durability up there in the core objectives of building. In spite of our agreement on this, it’s not the same for many.
Mr Michael Ilesanmi, our Fathers’ Day Pastor, walked us through the similarity of building physical structures and building homes. This seasoned builder didn’t dance around the topic — Raising kingdom builders: The Father’s Mandate with fluffy words. He served us practical wisdom using our daily experiences. And even though the focus was on Fathers, we eventually saw how deeply our roots are connected when it comes to this subject.
Just as buildings are mapped out and constructed by men, homes are too — except, they are built by God through men (Heb 3:4). And when man builds with this understanding, he prioritizes the need to follow the builder’s plans and standards.
Sadly, many don’t build with this in mind. More often than not, they compromise standards and build their families in ways that will not stand the test of time. The hunger for aesthetics over durability has caused a fog to float in the minds of many, and we see that this is foreign to the master builder’s plan.
Mr Ilesanmi didn’t just highlight the flaws in the structures many build, he proffered solutions.
To build a home in line with the Father’s mandate, men must prioritize unity and cooperation (Gen. 11: 1), quality must not be tampered with (Gen 11:3), the vision must align with God’s will for the home, and because they’re building a long lasting edifice, hard work must not be neglected.
Most importantly, he reminded men that to be a kingdom builder, it’s not just to make financial provisions available and call it a day. You have to be born again, let God rule, be a builder not a destroyer, provide resources, be inclusive, be ready to rebuild fallen places, and of course, partner with God, the one whose mandate you’re executing.
What is being built attracts God’s blessings (1 Cor 3: 8-14) So, when you see this, ponder: On whose foundation are you building?

June 29, 2026Building is a crucial, gradual process, and that is the main reason why God deliberately established marriage. God Himself is the divine foundation. He then positioned the husband and wife as pillars, covering them with children this is exactly where building begins.
In another sense, building simply means growth. When the husband and wife make it known to their children that there is a firm foundation in God, continuous growth is guaranteed in that home.
Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain
God must be the foundation before any real growth or building can happen).
In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord (Ephesians 2:21)
