For all of humanity, one thing is certain: each person will have a share of pain or loss. As scary as that may look, our upbringing, culture, society, and even experience do well to shape us on how to receive, react to, or live with said pain.
As Christians, we view ours through the lens of the cross. This Sunday opened us once again to the reality of the saviour we have in Christ, who is able to help us through and out of hopeless situations. As Pastor Adeyemo walked us through scriptures in Luke 7, we see Jesus doing one of the many things He does best; bringing hope to a hopeless situation as He raises the widow of Nain’s only son back to life. Having understood the significance of Christ in that scripture, we are reminded to approach hopeless situations differently. We are to react with the confidence that Jesus is our hope in such times.
God sees our pain and is able to help us when we are suffering. This is why this sermon is as important as oxygen, nourishing us with the knowledge and reminder that no situation is beyond the power of our God, who turns sorrow into joy.
So cast away your doubts, put on the lens of the cross, and look up to Jesus. He is able to bring you hope.
