Most of the hymns we sing today weren’t written in comfort. They were born out of a season of waiting and unimaginable sorrow, yet faith and hope shaped the words that preceded the mouths of the composers. They spoke of praise and the assurance of God’s sovereignty even in the middle of distress.
That tells us that it’s not enough to only say we have faith. But our actions and utterance in the middle of exercising faith matters just as much.
We must be conscious of God’s sovereignty in every situation. He doesn’t sleep nor does He go on recess. Therefore, we must remain just and steadfast in faith, speak glorious things of him (Psalms 87:3), and keep singing His praises to strengthen our faith and hope in Him.
We must hold on to the evidence and assurance that through it all, God is present.
Have faith and exercise it in hymns and praises unto the just One.
