More than words, this is the commitment that defines the reality of marriages all over the world. The sustainability it takes to give love, the resilience it requires to keep it, even when there are multiple reasons not to.
Sustainable love is love that remains. This love is not merely love spoken with the mouth, but demonstrated through patience, kindness, forgiveness, sacrifice and practical support.
The Apostle Paul teaches that we may possess spiritual gifts, knowledge and faith, but without love, all we have is nothing. Therefore, the true measure of Christian maturity is not only what we can do for God, but how we love one another.
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8). This is the love we’ve received, which we now extend. That it is possible to love someone when they are undeserving of it, because love doesn’t need perfection.
When we sustain love, we sustain the cycle that Christ first began.
Let your love be more than an emotion that fades with circumstances, Let it be a commitment that survives circumstance.
