Yesterday was not just another service. We were reminded of that which is closest to the heart of our father: Mission. Mission being God’s work in redeeming souls, and missions being our partnership with God in bringing men to Him.
The most beautiful thing about God in all of His glory is His love for mankind. Look at Genesis 3:8; Adam and Eve sinned, hid themselves from God, and He still came looking for them.
Adam and Eve ran away, but God ran after them. This is why the story of the cross and its purpose has always been God reaching for man, and not the other way around. His love is what makes Him chase after people, even when they wander from Him.
And as believers, having benefited from that love, it is our duty to partake in the business of leading souls to Christ.
When we become so focused on our own lives, goals, needs, and plans that we forget and abandon God’s burden for souls, the missions fail. Haggai 1:9 “…Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.”
People around us are hurting, searching, and unsaved, yet we see a gradual erosion of the desire to partner with God — an error we fall into when we focus more on our lives than God’s business.
So this week, we’ll repent. We’ll preach the gospel. We’ll tell someone about the cross. No programme, event, or activity can replace the simple yet powerful act of telling someone about Jesus. When we do that, we are missionaries and partners with God.
