Before anyone calls you a Doctor, you’d have sat through years of med school. Before anyone calls you a Content creator, you’d have actually made content. Before you can be called an Overcomer, you should have overcome something.
Rev. Dr. Akinrinola told the church that to become an overcomer, you must possess the knowledge and put to practice the qualities of one who overcomes. One of such qualities is seeing solutions in the midst of problems. Using David as an example, he did not win the battle with Goliath by swinging the sling. He won it by approaching the battle with a solution-based knowledge and then taking a step of faith to use the sling.
The question then is, where does that knowledge to be an overcomer come from?
Jesus showed us what it looks like to have that knowledge.
After 40 days and 40 nights of fasting, the devil came to test whether Jesus still walked in alignment with God. Jesus overcame the temptation because He knew the Word and stayed rooted in His connection to the Father. That was His overcoming power.
Overcoming marital challenges means having the knowledge of the word and connection with God. (1 John 5:4) The lack thereof brings about separation from Christ which gives room for the devil to prey on your ignorance.
If we’re separated from Christ, we don’t just lose peace, we start replaying the fallout of Eden in our own homes. The husband leans into control because he remembers “he will rule over her.” The wife leans into control of a different kind because she remembers “you will desire your husband.” (Gen 3: 16) The resultant being that both begin reaching for power because they are disconnected from the One who actually holds it.
But here’s a realization: those patterns are not God’s design for marriage.
So if that’s not how God intended marriage, what then did He intend?

June 29, 2026This is a powerful message It proves that overcoming marital challenges is not about fighting each other, but about staying connected to God together.
When a husband and wife disconnect from Christ, control and power struggles set in. But when they walk in deep understanding, communication, and agreement, the devil loses his foothold. True growth happens when a couple fights battles on their knees in total agreement. Matthew 18:19: The power of corporate agreement in prayer and decision making within the home.
Thank you for this eye opening word. More grace and strength in Jesus name
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. 1 John 5:4
