2026: My Year of Divine Glorification. John 17 vs 5

Becoming Stewards of Glorification

Ministering on the third Sunday in February, Reverend Dr. Tunji Bamgbose continued the theme of Glorification, emphasising the need, as believers in Christ, to become stewards of Glorification. He reminded the church that we’ve been chosen for glorification; however, our responsibility extends to becoming stewards – channels of God’s Glorification.

You’re an agent of glory entrusted to spread the glory of God all over the nations of the world, using Christ as the example”, Revd Bamgbose declared. Drawing from John 17:20-26, Jesus prayed not only for Himself but also for his disciples and those who would believe in His name. Christ asked that they be glorified, just as He shares glory with God, so that His name would be honoured before God. Today, we stand as living testimonies that His prayer was answered because we benefit from His glory, and approach the Father in Jesus’ name with confidence.

The glory of the Lord is not by luck or status; it is birthed in prayer. Christ prayed to be a channel of blessing unto others – that as He is glorified, His glory should extend to those who are in Him. In the same way, Revd Bamgbose admonished, as the church, we are to steward that glory.

To become stewards of God’s Glorification, we must emulate a character of prayer, like Christ did, for ourselves and for others. We must bring back the lost discipline of memorization – the memorization of God’s word- so we are well-rooted and sound in Christ. In our way of life, our ‘yes’ or ‘no’ must be for His glory. Our attitude, our love unto others should be to glorify the name of the Lord. These will make us stand out amongst the crowd of unbelievers.

Leaning on this example of Jesus, Revd Bamgbose told the church that if we take a moment to reflect within and on the life of Christ, and we live our lives the way He has called us to, we would not only be partakers of His Glory, but also become Stewards of God’s glory through the love and oneness we have with other believers.

When we pray, it should not be to curse others or to pray in hatred. Rather, in praying to be blessed by God, we also pray that God’s blessing flows through others, too. The arrangement and revelation of the blessing should be left to God, for He is the One who exalts, glorifies, and positions.
